Iain Taylor, chief revenue officer and co-founder at Chorus, reflects on the recent successes of Chorus.

When we started Chorus in 2022, we knew there was an opportunity to change how businesses approach workforce training and compliance. Fast forward to today and we’re proud to be shortlisted for Start-up Business of the Year at the Northern Star Business Awards. It’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come in a short time - building a platform that’s making a real impact, growing a strong team and forming partnerships that push us forward.

As we look ahead to awards night, I wanted to take a step back and share four key moments that have shaped our journey so far.

Recognition of a strong year

Being named a finalist is a great milestone, but more than that, it’s a reminder of the work we’ve put in over the past year. 2024 was a big one for us - expanding our capabilities, strengthening partnerships and delivering solutions that make training smarter and more effective for our clients.

Building a platform for impact

From day one, Rory and I set out to modernise training for industries facing complex compliance challenges. With our backgrounds in commercial and technical roles, we saw first-hand how outdated systems were holding companies back. By integrating AI and blockchain, we built a platform that simplifies training and compliance, making it easier for businesses to keep their workforce skilled and safe.

One of our biggest projects in 2024 was working with OPITO on the Hydrogen Technology Series. Hydrogen is a growing sector but the skills gap is a real challenge. The training series we helped develop is now live on our platform, providing a scalable way for organisations to upskill their teams.

Expanding the team

This year we’ve strengthened our team, bringing in new talent with expertise that complements what we already do. Having the right people in place has allowed us to develop our platform further and provide even better support to clients across multiple industries.

Helping clients solve complex challenges

Industries like renewables, utilities and energy face increasing pressure to stay compliant while ensuring their teams are properly trained. One example of how we’ve helped businesses navigate this challenge is our work with Calor Gas. By implementing AI-enabled site safety software, we streamlined their data management, reduced inconsistencies and improved real-time compliance monitoring.

For clients, this kind of transformation doesn’t just mean better efficiency - it creates safer working environments, which is ultimately what matters most.

Looking to the future

These milestones are just the beginning. Being shortlisted for this award is a great moment to pause and reflect, but our focus remains on what’s next. We have ambitious plans for 2025 and beyond, with new developments in the pipeline that will take what we do to the next level.
